Music playback and parties
iPod, laptop and DJ systems are intended for music playback. Some packages include Bluetooth and AUX connectivity. Microphones are not included unless specified.
DJ equipment requirements
DJ sound systems normally require a DJ mixer or professional DJ controller. Controllers must have proper EQ and master-level VU metering built into the hardware so output levels can be checked.
Important: Do not use conference PA systems for parties, discos or bands, or overdrive them. Equipment damaged while on hire may incur repair or replacement charges.

These are our entry-level conference PA packages for straightforward dry hire, suitable for smaller meetings, presentations and speeches. They are supplied as equipment-only packages for customers who are comfortable collecting, setting up and operating the system themselves.

Answers to common questions about choosing, collecting and using these dry-hire packages.
What is included in the daily hire price?
The daily price covers the equipment listed under the selected package. It excludes VAT. Delivery, setup, collection outside the standard arrangements, an operator and additional equipment are not included unless stated in your quotation.
Are microphones included?
No. Microphones are not included with these basic iPod and laptop packages. If you need a microphone for speeches or announcements, state this in your quote request so we can price a suitable option.
Can I connect an iPhone, Android phone, tablet or laptop?
Bluetooth playback is available through the included mixer. A 3.5 mm AUX lead is also listed in the package contents. Newer phones and some laptops may require a USB-C, Lightning or other audio adaptor, which is not included unless specifically confirmed.
Can I plug a DJ controller or DJ decks into these systems?
These packages are intended for straightforward music playback, not as a complete DJ setup. If you are using DJ equipment, choose a suitable active DJ PA package and check the required connections before booking. Our DJ PA mixer upgrade is available with selected DJ packages.
Which package should I choose for a party?
Choose the basic two-speaker package for general music playback where bass is not a priority. Choose the version with one subwoofer for fuller bass, or the version with two subwoofers when stronger bass is important. These are guides only. Venue size, room acoustics, background noise and the music level all affect the result.
Are the audience numbers guaranteed?
No. The audience figures are indicative guides, not a guarantee of coverage or volume. Outdoor events, noisy venues, high ceilings and dancefloor use can require a larger system. Tell us the venue type and approximate audience in your enquiry if you are unsure.
Is an engineer or setup service included?
No. These are equipment-only dry-hire packages for customers to collect, set up and operate themselves. Delivery, setup or technical support may be available at additional cost if requested in your enquiry.
Do you deliver, or do I have to collect?
Collection from our location in Edinburgh city centre is the standard DRY Hire option. Delivery and collection can be quoted separately depending on the venue, date and access arrangements. Include the event address and timings when requesting a quote.
How long is a daily hire?
Standard daily hire arrangements are shown in the hire-rates section: collection after 2 pm and return before 12 noon. Confirm the exact collection and return times when your quotation is issued. Weekly rates may be available for selected equipment.
What information should I provide to get an accurate quote?
Include the event date, venue or postcode, approximate audience size, indoor or outdoor use, hire duration, whether you need delivery, and how you will play music. Also mention any microphone or connection requirements.

Portable battery-powered PA systems
Portable battery PA systems are ideal for outdoor events, presentations, sports days, guided tours, weddings and locations without easy access to mains power. The range includes compact speech systems through to higher-output portable speakers with wireless microphone options and long battery life.
Portable sound without mains power
Easy to transport and simple to use. Suitable for ceremonies, announcements, presentations and other events where a conventional powered PA setup may be impractical. Dry hire and collection from our Edinburgh premises are available.

For hire collection, the published site requirements specify photographic identification, such as a UK driving licence or UK passport, together with a utility bill for your current UK address. Please confirm the current requirements before collection.

Use equipment for its intended application and within appropriate operating levels. Conference PA is designed for clear speech, not DJ or band use. Damage during the hire period may result in repair or replacement charges.
