Display Board Hire FAQs

If you are planning an academic conference, trade exhibition, or public consultation, you may have practical questions about display board hire in Edinburgh. Below are answers to the most common queries about board sizes, layouts, delivery, and setup.

How many poster boards do I need for a university conference?

As a general guide, allow one board per presenter. If you are using double sided boards in central rows, you can effectively double your display capacity within the same floor area.

Always leave at least 1.5 metres between rows to allow safe visitor flow.

What size poster board is best for academic posters?

Most academic conferences use A0 boards measuring 1200mm x 900mm. These are suitable for standard research posters and can be set in portrait or landscape orientation depending on your design.

For larger graphics or exhibition displays, XL boards measuring 1800mm x 900mm provide additional visual impact.

Can display boards be double sided?

Yes. All boards are double sided, which allows you to maximise display space.

Double sided layouts are commonly used in central rows at conferences and exhibitions.

Are the boards freestanding or linked?

Boards can be used freestanding or linked into continuous modular runs. Linked layouts are often used for trade exhibitions and public consultations where a clean, continuous display is required.

How are posters attached?

Posters are attached using Velcro dots only. Pins are not permitted.

This protects both the boards and printed materials while allowing easy repositioning during setup.

1.5 to 2 metres between double sided rows
Spacing may vary depending on venue size and expected footfall.
